Instagram is good for showing your work, but someone who wants an appointment at 11 pm on a Sunday can't book it there, and to find out what highlights cost they have to send you a DM. Your profile doesn't appear on the map either when they search "hair salon near me" on Google.
A website with your services, your prices and online booking covers those gaps. Here's what it needs and what it costs.
Why Instagram isn't enough for your salon
Instagram is a shop window. As a booking tool it falls short:
No direct bookings. The client sees your work, likes it and has to send a DM or call. Every extra step between "I like this" and "I'm booked" loses clients. Many look for a salon where they can book straight away.
You don't appear on Google Maps. When someone searches "hair salon in Zaragoza" or "barber near me", Google shows Maps listings and websites. Your Instagram profile rarely appears in those results.
You don't control the algorithm. Instagram decides who sees your posts. If you don't post every day, your reach drops.
Prices are hard to find. Clients want to know what a cut, colour or treatment costs before calling. On Instagram that information gets lost in highlights and carousels.
On a website, everything is organised and available at any hour.
What a hair salon website needs
Online booking. The most important feature. The client chooses service, day, time and stylist, and books. With online booking you also catch clients who look outside opening hours, the ones you lose on the phone. Online bookings connected to your website and Google, with automatic WhatsApp reminders, come with the website with online bookings or appointments: from €700 one-off, depending on how many services, stylists and opening hours it needs. Paid monthly, they're part of the All-in-one Pack. If you already use a booking tool, I connect it to your website and Google profile, from €79.
A gallery of your work. Before and after shots of colour, cuts, updos and treatments, organised by category (colour, cuts, bridal, barbering).
Services with prices. Women's cut, men's cut, highlights, colour, keratin, treatments, each with its price. Clients who see prices before booking arrive more decided.
Location with a Google map. Exact address, how to get there, nearby parking. An embedded map cuts "where exactly are you?" calls and helps with local searches.
Client reviews. Google reviews on your website build trust with people who don't know you yet. Ask for them after each service.
Visible WhatsApp button. With a ready-written message ("Hi, I'd like to book an appointment for...") for clients who prefer to write.
Booksy and Treatwell: commission and monthly fee
Booking platforms for salons like Booksy, Treatwell or Planity are useful to start with, but they have costs worth working out:
Commission on new clients. According to its pricing page (checked in October 2026), Treatwell charges 25% plus VAT on the first booking of each new client who reaches you through its marketplace, on top of the monthly fee. For example, on a €40 service that's €10 plus VAT for the platform.
Monthly fees. Booksy and similar tools charge a monthly subscription that depends on the plan and the number of professionals.
The client isn't yours. The platform has their details, can show them other salons in your area and you compete with them inside the same app.
Quick comparison:
| Treatwell/Booksy | Your own website | |
|---|---|---|
| Commission per booking | Depends on the platform and plan (Treatwell: 25% on the first booking of each new marketplace client) | None |
| Price | Monthly fee that depends on the plan and number of professionals | One-off: website with online bookings, from €700. Or monthly: All-in-one Pack (from €99/month + €99 setup) |
| Client details | The platform's | Yours |
With your own website you pay a fixed price and no appointment carries a commission. You can stay on the platform to find new clients and have regulars book on your website.
Local SEO for hair salons
Rank for your area and your services. "Hair salon Zaragoza", "barber Chamberí", "balayage Marbella". If someone searches exactly your service in your area and you don't appear, they go to another salon.
A complete Google Business Profile. Recent photos of the salon and your work, current opening hours, every service listed and reviews answered. All my packs include setting up the profile; if you want me to look after it every month (posts and replies to reviews), that's the Website + Google Pack from €59/month.
Content about trends. An article on "spring colour trends" or "which haircut suits my face shape" reaches people thinking about going to a salon.
Ask for reviews. After each service, send the direct link to leave a Google review by WhatsApp: "Did you like the result? A review would help us a lot." The review kit (QR code and ready-to-send WhatsApp message) comes with the Website + Google Pack.
Name your photos properly. Upload photos of your work with the salon name and location in the file name and the alt text, for example "Ash blonde balayage, hair salon in Zaragoza". That helps Google understand the image and show it in image search.
